‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ Finds Its West Coast Home at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which is the eighth installment of the Harry Potter series and the only part to be presented on a theater stage, is coming to the Curran Theatre in the fall of 2019. The play has already been making headlines and smashing records around the world with its New York and London shows, and will premier on the West Coast right here in San Francisco.

Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender said in an interview, “The beautiful and historic Curran in San Francisco is the perfect theatre for the next North American company of Cursed Child. We are delighted that ATG and Carole Shorenstein Hays have worked their magic to provide the ideal West Coast home for the production.” Performance dates, casting calls, information on tickets and more are set to be released to the public in the next couple months, which you can keep up with by clicking here. Be sure to watch carefully, as tickets aren’t expected to last very long!

The show will be split into two different shows that are meant to be seen on the same day, as in a matinee and an evening performance. The play is sure to be an amazing all-day event that is being put on by the Curran in collaboration with Ambassador Theater Group. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany, and also directed by John Tiffany.

The Curran Theatre in San Francisco was built in 1922 and has been home to some of the best and most prestigious live shows in America. The 1,600 seat house just completed renovations and remodeling in 2017 that was quickly led off by the ground-breaking show Fun Home. The Curran is currently under the curation of eight-time Tony Award-winner Carole Shorenstein Hays and her husband Dr. Jeffery Hays.
