Hamilton’s Educational Program Debuts in San Francisco

While Hamilton continues to be the hottest ticket on Broadway, selling out shows and raking in an impressive 11 Tony awards (just shy of the 12-Tony record), this musical force doesn’t stop there. Hamilton looks to give back to the community through their educational program, which had first appeared in New York and Chicago. It has now been extended to include additional cities, including San Francisco and the Greater Bay Area.

This program will debut in San Francisco on March 22. Students and teachers from 18 local public schools are expected to attend the matinee performance of the musical at SHN Orpheum Theater.

The students will also participate in a Q&A with members of the cast and some will also the rare opportunity to do their own Hamilton-inspired performances on the SHN Orpheum Theatre stage in front of their peers.

The March 22nd performance is the first of four all-student matinee performances in the Bay Area that will provide more than 8,500 Bay Area high school students the opportunity to experience the musical

The goal of the program is to leave a lasting impression on young people, educate them on American History and inspire the next generation of our country’s decision-makers. Meanwhile, instilling a love of the performing arts. The opportunity to experience the musical comes after having spent several weeks in their classrooms studying American history through a special integrated curriculum about Alexander Hamilton and the nation’s Founding Fathers.
