Paul McCartney Announces Farewell Concert at Candlestick Park on August 14

After months of back-and-forth between city representatives, Paul McCartney has officially confirmed he will play the final concert at Candlestick Park on August 14.

According to industry sources, tickets will go on sale May 5 but prices are still unknown. A statement on The Beatles legend’s website declares, “Putting the rumor mill to rest, Paul has confirmed that he will indeed return to San Francisco Aug. 14 to play Farewell to Candlestick: The Final Concert.”

Phil Ginsberg, the director of the city Recreation and Park Department and Candlestick operator, added “We just kept pushing and were persistent and drove the deal down the field.”

There were rumors that Levi’s Stadium, the new San Francisco 49ers venue, contacted McCartney’s representatives to negotiate a concert at Levi’s stadium instead of Candlestick. McCartney did the right thing by giving the appropriate send off to the site of the final Beatles concert and former home of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers.

Discussions about a final farewell concert at Candlestick Park have been publicized since Outside Lands last year.

Now, where’s Ringo?
