Confirmed: Outkast to Headline Coachella 2014

A long-awaited Outkast reunion could finally arrive starting with Coachella 2014, according to reports.

UPDATE JANUARY 8, 2014: Big Boi just confirmed on Instagram that the Outkast reunion is happening at Coachella 2014: “Outkast will be headlining Coackella 2014! Stank You Smelly Much! and Stay Tuned !!!”

NOVEMBER 18, 2013: Outkast, composed of André 3000 and Big Boi, went on hiatus in 2007 after becoming one of the most successful rap groups in the genre’s history, winning six Grammy Awards and selling more than 25 million copies of their eight studio releases.

Billboard reports today that several unnamed sources have confirmed the Coachella performance:

The Atlanta hip-hop duo is indeed in talks to reunite next year for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, multiple sources have confirmed to Billboard. Under the current plan, Coachella, which kicks off on Apr. 11, 2014 in Indio, Calif., would be the start of the reunion run and would be followed by additional festival dates in 2014.

One source tells Billboard that there have definitely been “some conversations” about Outkast reuniting, while another says it is “all systems go” for Big Boi and Andre 3000 to end their hiatus next year. A rep for Outkast did not comment for this story, while reps for their current label home, Epic, as well as Coachella organizer Goldenvoice, did not respond to request for comment at press time.

It is also likely that Arcade Fire will appear at Coachella 2014, following the band’s recent tour date announcement. We will report more Coachella and Outkast news as it arrives.
