Five Lunch & Dinner Deals For Dine About Town

Some of San Francisco’s most popular restaurants will be filled with guests this month, all part of the annual Dine About Town event. After perusing the list, here are five spots for lunch and dinner that caught our eyes.

Lunch deals offer guests two or three courses for $18.95.

Absinthe – At the French brasserie in Hayes Valley, guests will have a choice of one main course along with dessert for lunch. Entrees range from Croque Monsieur, Tagliatelle Pasta or a Grilled Pork Tenderloin. The second course is a dessert (Yogurt Panna Cotta). Absinthe Brasserie & Bar is located 398 Hayes Street. The Dine About Town deal is valid Tuesday-Friday.

Butterfly – This Cal-Asian restaurant situated at Pier 33 on the Embarcadero is offering diners a number of choices in its two-course lunch special. First course options include Fried Calamari, Duck Confit Spring Rolls and Kalua Pig. Choices for mains are a Shaking Beef Cobb Salad, Young Tumeric Grilled Snapper, Shanghai Garlic Noodles and Grilled Chicken Salad Club Sandwich. The lunch deal is available Tuesday-Friday. Butterfly is located at Pier 33 on the Embarcadero.

Campton Place – Long been known and well-respected in the San Francisco dining community, Campton Place is offering three courses. For the first course, guests can choose from Market Greens or Butternut Squash Veloute; the second course features Atlantic Cod or Short Ribs and for dessert, the options are a Classic Chocolate Cake or Tahitian Vanilla Panna Cotta. Guests can also add an optional two-course wine pairing for $17.95/person. The offer is good seven days a week during Dine About Town. Campton Place is located in the Taj Campton Place at 340 Stockton Street.

La Mar – Peruvian standby La Mar Cebicheria Peruana is offering guests two courses with plenty of choices from its selection of classic Peruvian dishes. For a first course, diners choose from Cebiche Clasico, Chorillana or dessert; second course offerings include Causa Casera, Quinoa Chaufa or once again dessert. The menu is available daily. La Mar Cebicheria Peruana is located at Pier 1 1/2 on the Embarcadero.

Spruce – Spruce has long been one of the top dining destinations for San Franciscans, a standout in Presidio Heights. For Dine About Town, the restaurant is offering two courses for lunch – Salt Roasted Beets and Chicken Leg Confit. The special is offered Monday-Friday. Spruce is located 3640 Sacramento Street.

For Dine About Town dinner options, guests are offered three courses at participating restaurants for $36.95.

Alfred’s Steakhouse – A longtime San Francisco institution, Alfred’s Steakhouse is offering up plenty of choices for Dine About Town. For a first course, guests can choose from a Mixed Green Salad, Alfred’s Classic Caesar Salad or Soup of the Day. The mains include a Grass-Fed Filet Mignon, New York Cut Steak, Ribeye Steak or Half Rack of New Zealand Lamb. And for dessert, options are Buttermilk Goat Cheese Panna Cotta, Flourless Chocolate Torte or Alfred’s Classic Cheesecake. The menu is being offered Tuesday-Saturday. Alfred’s Steakhouse is located at 659 Merchant Street.

Canela Bistro Bar – Canela’s Spanish-influenced menu mixes larger entrees with small plates and tapas-style dining, offering a bit of everything for guests to enjoy. For Dine About Town, the restaurant is offering guests the chance to choose from their wide selection of menu items. The first course choices include Tapas of Gambas or Pork or Lamb Pinchos; for a second course, diners can choose any Coca Flat Bread, a large Grilled Steak Salad or Mussels; dessert options include anything on the dessert menu or choice of Pimentos de Piquillo or Brussels Sprouts with Serrano Ham. The dinner menu is being offered Sunday-Thursday. Canela Bistro Bar is located at 2272 Market Street.

Farmer Brown – An array of Southern dishes fill the Dine About Town menu at Farmer Brown. Diners will have their choice of Seafood Gumbo, BBQ Baby Back Ribs, a Southern Wedge Salad or Blue Crab Hush Puppies for a first course, Blackened Shrimp & Grits, Southern Fried Chicken, Smoked Pork Chop or Vegetarian Jambalaya for their main and multiple desert options as well. The menu is available Tuesday-Sunday. Farmer Brown is located at 25 Mason Street.

Jamber – Described fittingly as San Francisco’s first “wine pub,” Jamber is offering a mix of great comfort dishes. First course items include Parmesan & Rosemary Mashed Potater Tots or Fried Mozzarella, a second course of Apple & Squash Soup and Jamber Caesar and mains of Mr. Meatloaf, Mac n Cheese and Chicken Pot Pie. Guests will also get to choose a dessert as well. The Dine About Town option will be available daily. Jamber is located at 858 Folsom Street.

Scoma’s – Sitting in Fisherman’s Wharf, Scoma’s has been offering up fresh seafood and a magnificent view for decades. Although the menu isn’t finalized because of availability of some of the seafood, diners can expect starters like Lobster Bisque, Two Scoma’s Classics (Caesar/Clam Chowder) and Dungenes Crab Cake. Mains could include Lamb T-Bones or Blackened Prawns over Penne. Three different desserts will also be offered. The menu will be offered Sunday-Thursday. Scoma’s Restaurant is located at Pier 47/One Al Scoma Way.

Dine About Town offers curious diners a chance to experience a restaurant they may have never thought to go to, all at a reduced price. While it often is not a true representation of a restaurant’s menu, in many cases, it can offer a pretty good glimpse of what’s to come. Dine About Town runs from January 15-31.
