Saison 3.0: A Restaurant Reincarnated

saison

Saison has established quite the name for itself since launching as a mere pop-up in 2009. The three-year-old restaurant boasts two Michelin stars and Executive Chef Joshua Skenes has been named Best Chef on several lists. And come December, Saison will be moving into an awesome new space in SoMa.

To say farewell to its original Mission location, Saison will be offering a special menu from November 6 through December 1 (the last day Saison will operate at its Folsom Street location). Chef Skenes will bring back some of his personal and crowd favorites, which may include items such as the Four Story Poularde, Little Leeks, Monterey Abalone and Sylvia’s Heartbread Agnolotti. As Chef Skenes puts it, the celebration will honor versions 1.0 (the pop-up) and 2.0 (the Mission location) of Saison.

saisonSaison 3.0 will be located inside the historic California Electric Light Company Building at 178 Townsend Street. This location will house a 5,000-bottle wine cellar, and a new cocktail menu will be revealed as well. Perhaps what will be most noticeable about the new space is the complete lack of barriers between the dining area and the kitchen. The 18-seat dining room will blend with the 12-seat bar and lounge, and the kitchen, offering guests the exclusivity of a “chef’s table” environment.

“Old” Saison is open Tuesdays through Saturdays for dinner from 6pm until 9pm. Please note that the restaurant will be closed November 12 through 15, November 22 (Thanksgiving), and will finally close on December 1. “New” Saison will be opening in early December, serving dinner Tuesdays through Saturdays from 5pm until 10pm. Reservations for either can be made at www.saisonsf.com or by calling 415.828.7990.
