Blur, one of many popular bars on Polk Street, had its liquor license suspended last week by the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

According to the San Francisco Examiner, Blur was closed last Wednesday for “permit violations.” Erik Szakacs, a supervising investigator for the department, tells the paper that Blur’s license will be suspended for 10 days because when inspectors came through, the bar was not serving food , which is part of its licensing agreement.

He said the suspended license “is in effect until April 19, but could be extended if the owners do not show that the establishment is in compliance with its permits.”

This comes as residents in the neighborhood have expressed growing concerns over crowd issues along busy Polk Street. Residents have complained about the nightlife scene, overcrowding, noise, pollution and crime in the area. The Community Leadership Alliance, along with San Francisco police and the Entertainment Commission are working on possible solutions to those complaints.
