Ravi Kapur Returning to SF

Ravi Kapur left his position as chef at Prospect to take some time off and spend more time with his wife and young son last September. After traveling around the world, including to his native Hawaii, he is making his triumphant return to San Francisco with a pop-up at Citizen’s Band on Monday, February 20.

Inside Scoop reports that Kapur worked with Citizen’s Band chef Chris Beerman at Boulevard so the location makes perfect sense, especially since the restaurant is normally closed on Mondays.

The prix fixe menu ($65 per person includes gratuity and tax) will feature 10-12 dishes, served family style. Much of the menu will reflect Kapur’s Hawaiian background. “The idea was just me cooking food I’ve been thinking about, inspired by my upbringing in Hawaii and solidified by recent travels, in a casual family style, like you’re at my house for dinner,” he told Inside Scoop.

Kapur said he is looking for a permanent restaurant space, most likely in the Mission, where he and his family live. But for now, he’s still mainly focused on spending time with his family.

According to OpenTable, the event is sold out, although there will be a few spots for walk-ins at the counter. Expect a few more pop-ups from Kapur in the future as well. Below is a sample of what’s in store for diners on Monday.
