Private Parts Exposed at SF Playhouse
Writer and performer Graham Gremore’s solo performance Private Parts will be featured every Thursday night through Saturday night during the month of February at SF Playhouse. Private Parts is the opening performance for season three of SF Playhouse’s Sandbox Series.
Private Parts originated from a collection of essays that Gremore is putting together and publishing in the near future about his life growing up in the Midwest. It was not Gremore’s intention initially to perform the collection of essays for an audience. SF Playhouse suggested the idea and Gremore says from there it “morphed into a solo show.”
He then performed Private Parts last May at SF Playhouse’s Sunday Night Solo series. It sold out and was well received by critics and audiences. SF playhouse asked Gremore to come back and now the show has been rewritten and is directed by SF Playhouse’s artistic director Bill English. Gremore says, “The stories are all really funny, you can expect to laugh. But they also all really add up to something in the end. So there’s some weight to the show as well.”
Gremore will be playing piano to accompany his stories of familial dysfunction. It promises to be a night of good laughs, good insight, and good music. Gremore adds, “It’s a show about my dramatic escape from the Midwest. So escape is a big theme in the play. I think anyone who has ever had the desire to run away or better themselves in some way can really relate to this.” Tickets are already selling out, so make sure you pick some up before it’s too late!
