Video: Frank Ocean’s First Solo Performance

Check out videos from the R&B singer’s first ever solo non-OFWGKTA performance in his hometown of New Orleans.

Most know Frank Ocean as one of the members of Los Angeles hip-hop collective OFWGKTA. But what some may not know is that Ocean landed in L.A because he was fleeing the damage in his hometown of New Orleans caused by Hurricane Katrina. So it was only fitting he returned home for his first solo show, free of OFWGKTA, at the House of Blues this past Saturday.

During a long set, Ocean performed “Thinking of You,” “Swim Good,” “Novacane,” and “I Miss You” -which he wrote for Beyonce Knowles- among many others. Ocean has an EP and a mixtape under his belt while he continues working on his debut album for Def Jam.

After the show Ocean flew to New York to play the Bowery Ballroom the following night but was forced to cancel an hour beforehand due to illness. He posted on his blog a statement regarding the postponement.

Check out some of the clips from the show below, and let us know what you think of Ocean’s solo project!
