Theater: Halloween Frights

This week, beware — Halloween frights are taking over the stages of San Francisco.

This Tuesday, the Un-Scripted Theater Company delves into the deep, dark unknown to create horror improv history. Catch their show, Fear, playing through Halloween night at the SF Playhouse.

Shocktober Fest 12: Fear Over Fristco presents a trio of thrills at the Hyponodrome this Thursday through Saturday. Each of the three terrifying plays takes you through a different period of darkness, with eerie musical direction by Scrumbly Koldewyn.

Hell has no fury like a woman scorn. This Friday and Saturday, ShEvil Dead takes the stage at CELLspace. The show is an outrageous parody of Evil Dead I & II, tossed with a bit of Army of Darkness — with an all female cast. Saturday’s performance will include a costume contest — we’re guessing, the bloodier the better.

Also just in time for Hallowen, Cirque du Soleil: TOTEM arrives at AT&T Park. While the show may not be exactly scary, what these guys can do with their bodies is pretty strange, and their costumes are nothing short of amazing. The show starts this Friday and runs through Saturday, December 10.
