Free Taxis, Tows Offered for Cinco de Mayo Revelers

Per usual, some cab and tow truck companies are offering free rides and tow truck services for Cinco de Mayo.

Alameda-based injury lawyer William Berg launched his law firm’s Safe and Sober Free Car Ride Home program in 2004 after witnessing firsthand the pain that people suffer by losing a loved on in an alcohol-related crash.

The program runs on most holidays. On Thursday afternoon and evening, from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m., the Berg Injury Lawyers firm will cover the first $35 of rides home for patrons in Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco. Customers will be responsible for the remainder of the cost.

In the East Bay, you can call Veterans Cab at (800) 281-4488. In San Francisco, call Luxor Cab at (415) 282-4141.

AAA is also offering free tows for drinking drivers in Northern California. The Tipsy Tow Program will offer a free tow for both members and non-members from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Those interested can call (800) 222-4357.
