Facing the possibility of a more than billion dollar budget deficit over the next 20 years, financial planners have come up with five suggestions for the struggling San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

Among the suggestions offered by SFMTA Chief Financial Officer Sonali Bose and financial planners from Ross Financial and Public Financial Management: vehicle mitigation impact fees, transportation utility fees, a transit parcel tax, commercial parking space fees and a local transit sales tax.

The ideas will be considered by the board in early April.

If approved, the measures could be put on the November 2012 ballot for San Francisco voters.
