7 People Shot in Oakland

Looks like Oakland Mayor Jean Quan has got has quite the challenge. Just days after being sworn in and declaring crime as one of her top priorities, 7 people were shot (one fatally) in Oakland last night.

According to Shoshana Walter at The Bay Citizen, “First, police found a man struck in the back by a stray bullet in the living room of his home at 1107 89th Avenue. About a block away, police found a second victim with gunshot wounds in his stomach and arm. While investigators were on scene, a third victim walked up to officers with a leg wound. Police put out a call to local hospitals and received word of another victim with a chest wound at Highland Hospital about 10 p.m. About ten minutes later, two more victims were found at 90th Avenue. Police said all of the victims are adults and two are not from Oakland.

Witnesses told police they saw two shooters in a vehicle. Police have not released a description. Anyone with information is asked to call 510-238-3426.”
