If you need an excuse to put back a few adult beverages this week, you don't have to look far. It's Fat Tuesday, and venues throughout the city are breaking out the beads and New Orleans signature cocktails for Mardi Gras parties like Mardi Gras in the Marina. Meanwhile, San Francisco's 160th Annual St. Patrick's Day Festival and Parade provides an early welcome for the Irish holiday, and festivities will continue well into the day and night at Civic Center and surrounding bars. Prefer the sound of amplified instruments and beats over the steady hum and nasally melody of bagpipes? Dance floors will be on fire with indie-electronic from Miami Horror, and pumped up jams from Simian Mobile Disco w/ Fake Blood.

Question: Name the three surfers profiled in The Westsiders (showing at the SF Ocean Film Festival) and email your answer to [email protected] for a chance to win something completely unrelated to surfing or the ocean - two tickets to the Star Trek convention this weekend in SF.
