Luke Hess Joins Direct to Earth at Monarch

This Friday, April 26, Direct to Earth returns to Monarch featuring an appearance from new school Detroit techno producer, Luke Hess.

Luke is a Motor City native who was still a child as the fledgling techno scene blossomed through the works of founders Derrick May, Juan Atkins, and Kevin Saunderson. Later, he experienced warehouse parties inspired by iconic producers from the Underground Resistance crew as well as those under Richie Hawtin’s edgy +8 imprint. His love for the underground shines through his raw, dub-tinged productions which have appeared on labels such as Echocord, Carl Craig’s Planet E, Omar S’s FXHE, and Beretta Grey.

Following the debut of his lauded first full length, Light in the Dark, in 2009, Luke received equal appraisal from Resident Advisor for his second full length, Keep On, in 2012. Since 2010, he has also been curating his own tastes in experimental, dance floor-oriented techno through his own label, DeepLabs, which has featured releases from artists such as Marko Furstenberg and DTE’s own Patrick Gil.

Luke’s set will be sure to pack a punch on Monarch’s Void sound system. Check him out for yourself this Friday with support from Zoz, and DTE residents, Patrick Gil and Max Gardner.
