THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
YBCA ConVerge: BAN7

This month’s ConVerge presents a variety of workshops and interactive installations that guide you through a range of hands-on experiences with artists and arts organizations featured in the Bay Area Now 7 exhibition.

Grand Lobby: Bay Area Area Art Workers Alliance will present a performance followed by a discussion of artists' labor. Binta Ayofemi's Untitled (Primary Structures) work will be performed as a field of actions, ending with an artist talk and discussion. Jesus Landin-Torrez III will stage The Great Reveal in the galleries dealing with the ideas of "magic" within the preparator labor force, exposing the process and people that are hidden behind the velvet rope of the institution before the opening exhibition.

Youth Arts Lounge: The Estria Foundation will host a hip hop drawing night with figure drawing and a graffiti typography workshop lead by Sundance. Poster paper, pencils, markers, and mix media tools will be provided to participants to utilize. Models will stand in Breakdancing (Bboy and Bgirl) poses to inspire the figure drawing activity. Additionally, there will be a graffiti letter activity, where participants can practice creating their own words, names or characters with a street art style. Participants will be able to take their works of art home. Artists and art lovers of all levels are welcome.
