The Neoteric Renaissance Arts Cooperative in Santa Cruz is offering a June Intensive Workshop that provides hands on instruction in classical realism. June 27-29 join us for a three day workshop on how to do a Master copy drawing AND for sculptors, sculpting the human skull.
The skull exercise for sculptors will be about canons of proportion and its structural consequence in our rendering power. Master copy for drawing students will be happening at the same time where students will follow the lines and masses of the old masters, to better evaluate our judgments when working from nature. Both forms are the perfect foundational preparation for our July portrait workshop.
Students may spend some time on both activities if they wish, or just focus on one for the full three days.
Classically trained at the Florence Academy of Art, Artists Lisa Silas, Jonathan Chorn and Matthew Riggs will be teaching this dynamic three day workshop. For more information on Lisa, Jonathan and Matthew visit: http://www.neotericrenaissance.com/about-neoteric-renaissance/
About our School:
The Neoteric Renaissance School of Art is a community of students and teachers dedicated to the time-honored, classical realist methods of the old masters. We employ training methods that have produced generations of fine artists, but which were nearly lost during the last century. As the eye is trained in these methods, the mind opens to new, richer ways of seeing. Our school is part of a world-wide community nurturing the re-emergence of classical realist art in the modern era. It is a place to lay the foundation of a career in art.
Our studios are located at the Tannery Arts Center.
