Improv Intuition
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
This is a next-level workshop for experienced improvisors that will focus on how to tap into both individual and group intuition. An emphasis on deep listening will empower improvisors to understand their instincts, activate inspiration, and develop rock-solid trust in self and partners. The workshop format will be group exercises, duo and trio scenes, and solo character work.
The Right Now is a trio of women improvisors known for their intuitive style of play featuring truthful characters, freedom in physicality, and just the right amount of mischief. The Right Now will provide workshop participants with individual feedback, including notes and details of workshop content.
This class is limited to 16 students.
INSTRUCTORS BIO:
Fontana Butterfield - Fontana is an improviser, director, actor, coach with over 25 years of experience teaching and directing both improv and acting. She currently teaches at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA and teaches the Meisner acting method based on deep listening and truthful response at the Waterfront Playhouse Conservatory in Berkeley, CA.
Claire Slattery - For the past 10 years Claire has acted at top theatre companies, improvised with veteran teams, and taught at world-class training centers in San Francisco and Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, Claire performs with mainstage teams Wheelhouse and The Village Bicycle at the iO West Theater, hosts a monthly show and performs regularly at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, and trains at The Groundlings.
Mariah Howard - Mariah is a voice actor and improviser. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Expressive Arts Therapy at John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley, California. With over a decade of improv performance, visual recording, and facilitation, she isnan expert in creating group processes that bring out collective wisdom and innate creativity.
