Wild Things - The Basics of Wildlife and Nature Photography

Enjoy an afternoon with esteemed local photographer, Steve Mandel, to learn how to capture wildlife and nature photographs like the pros. This four-hour session will cover the basics of using your camera to capture better wildlife and nature images. The first section of the class will go over compositional technique, producing artistic images and ethics. The second section will discuss various camera functions and how to use them to get good exposures and the images you want. Section three will show equipment used for wildlife and nature photography, including some robotic equipment (photographic drone and remote controlled camera car) used by the instructor.

For the last part of the class we will head out to the lighthouse at the end of the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor. A long telephoto lens will be set up and class participants will have a chance to shoot through it. Please bring an unformatted SD card that you can put into the camera so you will have a way to take your long lens images home.
