Feb 16, 8pm and Feb 17, 2pm
The critically-acclaimed live concert "Whitney: 'One Moment In Time' Starring Dee Dee Simon" comes to the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton for two shows in February. Honoring the talent, music and memory of Whitney Houston, the production features the breath-taking vocals of Northern California's current Entertainer of the Year Award Winner Dee Dee Simon and her 6-piece band. In a musical journey through many of Houston's greatest hits, the show includes "I Will Always Love You," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," plus her signature song "One Moment In Time."
With a range of 5 octaves, Ms. Dee Dee Simon admits she was born to sing. Her skills are compared to the sassy vocals of Patti Labelle, the richness of Gladys Knight, the fire of Chaka Khan, the edge of Tina Turner and the purity of Whitney Houston. The Oakland native is not only singer-songwriter, actor, and executive producer, but has also been labeled in the media as the "Soul of the Bay." Simon has earned twenty-two Black Music Awards, Northern California Best Female Vocalist. Dee Dee was the winner of the Steve Harvey National Competition. But Steve Harvey said it best: "that girl can SANG."
Show times: Saturday, February 16, 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, February 17, 2:00 p.m.
