The Newbigin House of Studies and the BioLogos Foundation are excited to host Dr. Jeff Schloss for an evening reception and lecture exploring fascinating, new findings in biology that re-illuminate deep harmony between faith and science.

The evening will begin with a reception featuring live jazz, heavy hors d’oeuvres and wine. A lecture with Dr. Jeff Schloss will follow.

About Dr. Schloss:

Jeff Schloss is Senior Scholar at the BioLogos Foundation and Distinguished Professor & T.B. Walker Chair of Biology at Westmont College, where he directs the Center for Faith, Ethics, & Life Sciences. After coming to faith as a college dropout, he graduated from Wheaton College and went on to get his Ph.D. in Ecology/Evolutionary Biology from Washington University. He has held faculty appointments at Wheaton College and University of Michigan, and senior research fellowships at Notre Dame, St. Anne's College Oxford, Emory, and Princeton Center of Theological Inquiry. Jeff's work explores the fascinating interplay between scientific, philosophical, and theological perspectives on biology and human nature, and he writes & speaks internationally in research, secular public, and church settings. In his off time (or “on” time?), Jeff enjoys guitar, fishing, and surfing –immeasurably richer with long-time friends, with his three 20/30-something sons, and with his wife Melody.

BioLogos invites the church and the world to see the harmony between science and biblical faith as we present an evolutionary understanding of God's creation.
BioLogos provides virtual and actual meeting places where the best Christian minds in the sciences, theology, biblical studies, philosophy, and other fields meet on these topics of mutual interest for the good of the church. With a commitment to spirited and gracious dialogue and a confidence in the ultimate harmony between science and faith, we aim to help the church develop a world view that embraces both of these complex but complementary ways of understanding the world and our place in it.

Host:
