FRIDAY, MARCH 31ST
21+ 10pm - 4amHalcyon 314 11th Street
WEISS BIO:DEEP JACKING GROOVES, WARM RUMBLING SUBS, SWEET SHARP PERCUSSION, DELICATE VOCAL TREATMENT… WHATEVER IT IS ABOUT HOUSE MUSIC THAT STIMULATES YOU THE MOST, YOU’RE GUARANTEED TO FIND PLENTY OF IT ON A WEISS RECORD.
After a spectacularly successful intro to the scene which saw Weiss (pronounced ‘Vice’) being championed by the likes of Groove Armada, Loco Dice, Green Velvet, Kenny Dope, Pete Tong & more, the hit single ‘My Sister’ rotating on BBC Radio 1, whilst staying strong in the Beatport top ten chart for over four months, and countless gigs all over Europe, it was plain to see that Weiss was here to stay.
Following this lead, Weiss has risen to even greater heights, with his releases inspiring support from the most respected & freshest names in the industry, including Gorgon City, Shadow Child, Shiba San, Claptone, Hot Since 82, Claude VonStroke, Tensnake, Bontan and more.
'Guitar Man' stormed up the Beatport charts and remained an essential in clubs for months after its release; whilst Pete Tong continues to champion Weiss' remix of Green Velvet & Riva Starr's 'Robots'. The 'Weiss City' series have been picks of the summer, with tracks like 'I Feel Better' proving to be fan favourites at the likes of We Are FSTVL. Similarly, his remixes of MK's iconic 'Always', Tube & Berger's soulful 'Come On Now (Set It Off)' and Deadmau5’s anthemic ‘Raise Your weapon’ have set the industry alight with accolades from all corners of the scene.
With the new year comes an even stronger sound, ‘Our Love’ follows on from where ‘I Believe’ left off, a driving onslaught of Jackin’ beats with that irrepressible Weiss bass rumbling through, premiered by Pete Tong on Radio 1 with a frenzy of hype around its release.
Trends in dance music will always come and go, and during a peak in the deep synth sound Weiss is an ambassador for real House music, championing the original Jackin’ Chicago house sound, and with a string of exciting projects, collaborations and hotly tipped releases on their way, expect nothing but the hottest and most underground cuts from this rising star…
WALKER & ROYCE BIO:New York City's Sam Walker & Gavin Royce have been producing their emotive, subdued and groove-heavy deep house for just two years— but almost from the start, they were touted as future stars. Now it's official, thanks to a certain UK tastemaker— not to mention a string of stellar productions and remixes." -Bruce Tantum: Nightlife Editor, Time Out NY
"Walker & Royce" started when Sam and Gavin, having known each other in and out of the dance scene for years, finally began working together in 2011. As things usually go, it was a bit of luck that got them off the ground: Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus noticed one of their very first releases, a remix of SAARID's "Future Lately", on Nervous Records. He began playing it in all of his sets and reached out to the duo for more. The result was the Crosstown Rebels EP "You're Not Welcome" and with that, Walker & Royce was launched into the dance music mainstream.
Around the same time, Walker & Royce released a track on an OFF Recordings compilation that started as a sleeper but went on to become a house anthem: "Connected". The song quickly became a mainstay in Solomun's performances. This and subsequent releases, such as those on Moda Black and Pets Recordings, have set the stage for a diverse range of sounds from the pair.
Since then, Walker & Royce's music has been supported by Sasha, option4, Maceo Plex, Pete Tong, Need & Necessity, Catz N Dogz, Danny Daze, Tensnake, Jaymo & Andy George, Maxxi Soundsystem, Hector Romero, Jozif, Kolombo, Treasure Fingers, and Waifs & Strays, to name a few.
