The Scandinavian School in San Francisco would like to invite you to a brand new watercolor workshop series. Your instructor will be Oscar Boberg who is a member of the City Art cooperative Gallery in San Francisco, a graphic designer, and former teacher at the Scandinavian School. We will meet on Saturday May 11, Sunday May 19 and Sunday June 2, and each session is three hours long, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
This is going to be an introduction into the art of watercolor, where you will get a chance to try many different techniques, learn about composition and planning, and get a solid foundation going forward with your painting. But most of all it is going to be fun. The class is structured so that you will get a lot of time exploring the paint and brushes, try your hand at different techniques, and experiment a lot.
The first class will focus on learning to control your tools, getting familiar with how to mix your colors, and controlling the water (which might be easier said than done). We will try our hand at painting flowers in a loose impressionistic style using wet in wet, and wet on dry techniques.
In our second class we will continue our explorations into watercolor and move on to painting skies and trees, which will be combined into our first landscape painting. We will also talk about some of the theory of composition and how to plan out your painting.
At our third meet up we will review what we’ve talked about so far and answer questions that might have come up along the way. In this session we will work on individual projects from pictures that you bring to class. Oscar will spend time with you one on one to help you plan out the painting, and talk about how to choose a suitable composition, while staying true to your vision.
This workshop is suitable for 15 years old and up, and will be conducted in English.
