Watercolor Texture Lab - fun full-day painting workshop

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at TRY Studio (see times)
The Watercolor Texture Lab is a full day of guided experimentation with paint and a broad assortment of tools and materials. This workshop is an approachable way to get familiar with watercolor paint, to conquer your fear of making a mark on a blank page, or just to play and be creative.

You will end the day with thirty 4x4 inch painted cards, one for each exercise, as well as one larger piece where you’ve combined your new favorite techniques. You will also take home the full texture kit so you can continue experimenting.

+ Apply paint with a paintbrush, sponge, toothbrush, and plastic card
+ Manipulate wet paint with alcohol, water, and textiles
+ Add interesting effects to color washes with salt and coffee
+ Modify dried paint with a razor and sandpaper
+ Preserve the white of the paper with wax and latex
+ Build brushstrokes into a pattern
+ And much more!

What will you do with these new techniques?
+ Create backgrounds for handwritten messages (Instagram anyone?)
+ Cut up textures to create collages
+ Decorate greeting cards, gift tags, bookmarks, and other paper goods
+ Add dimension and visual interest to your nature paintings with textured rocks, water, sand, and trees
+ Incorporate or layer multiple textures for stunning abstract paintings

You will be provided with all of the materials and equipment you need, and you’ll take home extra supplies.

Lunch, snacks, and drinks are included. You'll be asked for dietary restrictions when you register.

You do not need any prior experience with watercolor, though curious painters are more than welcome to join the fun.
