SFAC teams up with Warrior Writers to present a writing workshop for veterans and civilians alike. Led by veteran and writer, Eddie Falcon, workshop participants are encouraged to share their stories, opinions, and ideas around war and peace for productive writing and story-telling. By creating an open and accepting atmosphere, we build a community of support. Workshops are open to all regardless of experiences with writing, combat, art, deployment, etc.
Warrior Writers is a veteran-focused arts organization that fosters artistic exploration and expression through casual, welcoming workshops and retreats. By reflecting and creating in a comfortable space, we encourage and support healing and community building. Art making becomes the creative tool through which we understand and transcend experiences of trauma and emotional disruptions that are not easily identified but constantly felt.
This event is presented as part of Not Alone: Exploring Bonds Between and With Members of the Armed Forces on view at the San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries at 401 Van Ness Avenue through March 18, 2017. sfartscommission.org/gallery
