Immersive theater, art, and charity event to support Ukrainian hospitals.
The "Warm Up Ukraine" fundraiser brings Ukrainian artists from all over the country to San Francisco to raise funds for generators needed at mobile hospitals in Ukraine.
This event is a unique chance to connect, through an immersive experience, with the daily life of Ukrainians who are forced to spend much of their time in dark bomb shelters. Created to appeal to one's senses and emotions, our space serves as a reminder that we can always find light in the darkest times. We are using a variety of media, including VR from the Ukrainian startup Aspichi that will transport you to Ukrainian towns liberated from Russian occupation.
The event will also feature Ukrainian food and drinks from acclaimed Ukrainian Chef Anna Voloshyna, author of the acclaimed new cookbook Budmo. An exhibit of works by women artists Marina Malyarenko, Valentyna Zasutska, and Yana Verba highlights the vitality and creativity, as well as deep roots, of contemporary Ukrainian culture. The artists will be present at the event and some of the works will be available to buy. The evening will conclude with a 4-hour electronic music and dance set by locally based Ukrainian DJs.
The goal is to raise $50,000 and purchase cold-weather supplies for field hospitals in the war zone.
Mobile field hospitals and "stabilization points" are the healthcare facilities closest to the front lines. Wounded soldiers and civilians are brought there to be given urgent treatment and to be stabilized for further transit to larger hospitals.
A reliable electricity supply is essential to operating these facilities, but due to Russian attacks on infrastructure, they can no longer rely on the grid. Therefore, portable generators are required. These are typically 5-8kW units that cost approximately between $2,000-$3,000 in Europe.
