Quit Your Day Job and The Loom present:
WAREHOUSE ART SHOW
Saturday October 7th, 2023
7pm - 11pm
Ages 21+
Experience local art in a gorgeous warehouse teeming with creativity and unrestrained expression in every corner. We'll be featuring two dozen part-time artists and craftspeople in our pop-up gallery alongside an art market and lineup of stellar local DJs. Take a gander at the art and engage with the artists, get your boogie on, sip on a tasty beverage and take in the jaw-dropping space. Support your friends and get fired up for your local creative community!
Quit Your Day Job highlights local part-time and emerging artists who aren't *yet* ready to quit their day jobs by growing and strengthening the connections between our local artists and our communities, platform, resources and mentors.
We validate artists that have had to demote their artist status to part-time to make ends meet in an increasingly absurd economy. If you're like us and you're sick of mourning the loss of the Bay Area's arts and entertainment culture, join us as we breathe life back into our city. We've had enough of complaining about the Bay Area's deteriorating culture and decided to do something about it: showing our support for local art makes space for art to flourish.
The Loom District
A home-grown, waterfront, urban village weaving together artists, makers, professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, and residents. All of whom are part of a collective vision that creates an eclectic and vibrant arts, entertainment, and residential community representative of the fabric of Oakland. Rooted in rich history, the Loom District is situated between the 880 Freeway to the east and the Estuary to the west and is planned to encompass residential, cultureast cultural, retail, and commercial uses and serves as a central hub for the already arts-rich Jingletown neighborhood.
Gallery Absurd
Think wacky radical vibrant. Pop art. Absurdism. Surrealism. Absurdity in the mythical and illogical / Absurdity in our everyday lives: the United States' healthcare system, toddlers & tiaras, astronomically high rent, extreme gender reveal parties, the list goes on.
