Walnut Creek Fine Arts and Crafts Festival

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Artists will arrive in Downtown Walnut Creek for a spring celebration during the 35th Annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival. This annual event extends along the sidewalks of North Main between Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Civic Drive and the closed street of Cypress between N. Main and Locust Streets, Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sponsored by the Downtown Business Association, the 36th Annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival is free to the public and will feature more than 150 professional artists traveling from throughout California and the Western United States to showcase original paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, clothing and other fine works. Among the featured artists at this year’s show:

Steven Anderson
Studio: Stockton, CA
Medium: Wood
His Art: Outdoor furniture
Creative Process: “It is our goal to design and build all of our products to last for many seasons. Only the best Western Red Cedar is used in our products and they are assembled with waterproof glue and most use stainless steel screws,” said Anderson. “From the beginning, our products are designed taking into consideration function, style, ease of assembly, and strength in order to add value to your life and home.”

Jennifer Cull
Studio: Penn Valley
Medium: Stone
Her Art: Sculptures
Creative Process: “All my vases and sculptures are carved using traditional hammers, chisels, rasps, riflers, and then polished by hand with sandpaper. I do it this way because I want to help keep the traditional methods and skills of stone carving alive. When I work I use no inspiration other than the stone itself and the beauty around me. I simply study the texture, colors, grain and shape of the piece I'm working on and try to see what would look most natural as a finished sculpture. Making sculpture into vases has added a fun element to my work and lets the people who own them contribute to the look and feel of their piece.”

Federico Domondon
Studio: Union City
Medium: Acrylic, pastel and charcoal
His Art: Paintings
Creative Process: “All of my life I have always been fascinated by the impressionist and by the post-impressionists. My paintings are highly influenced by Matisse, Van Gogh and Monet. Viewing my work, there are actually two known styles: The first one is the use of my bold colors in painting cafes and other cityscapes, and the second is impressionism which are my Monet-style paintings.”
