NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund is America's premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Founded in 1940 under the leadership of Thurgood Marshall, who subsequently became the first African American U.S. Supreme Court Justice, LDF was launched at a time when the nation's aspirations for equality and due process of law were stifled by widespread, state-sponsored racial inequality. This is a perilous time for our country, with unrest occurring nationwide as the decades-long issue of police violence against African Americans is back in the spotlight. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, LDF has shifted significant resources to addressing the potentially catastrophic damage to the communities it serves.
Voices in Action is an effort of passionate multiracial artists and community members to increase immediate and ongoing donations for organizations on the forefront of racial justice and protecting Black lives organized completely by volunteers.
