VIOLINS OF HOPE: New Century Chamber Orchestra

The Taube Center for Jewish Peoplehood, Kanbar Center for the Performing Arts and New Century Chamber Orchestra have joined together to create and present this unique program to the community collaboratively with The Violins of Hope. As part of the Bay Area Violins of Hope residency, Daniel Hope and members of New Century Chamber Orchestra will perform music by Jewish composers on the iconic collection of recovered and restored Holocaust-era string instruments. This event will also feature exclusive footage from Daniel Hope's award-winning film Refuge in Music: Terezin/Theresienstadt.

ABOUT REFUGE IN MUSIC: Terezin/Theresienstadt.
Coverage of a special concert held in remembrance of the victims of the World War II concentration camp Terezin, located near Prague. As well as featuring music from orchestra Bayerische Akademie der SchAnen Knste and soloists including Daniel Hope, Bengt Forsberg, Anne Sofie von Otter and Bebe Risenfors, a documentary is included featuring contributions from survivors of the camp.

ABOUT VIOLINS OF HOPE: The Violins are a collection of 70+ string instruments originally owned and played by European Jews in ghettos and Nazi death camps during WWII, which have been lovingly restored over the past two decades by renowned Israeli violin-makers Amnon and Avshalom Weinstein.

CONCESSIONS: Wine, beer, a selection of soft drinks along with coffee, tea and a variety of snacks and freshly baked goods available for purchase. Concessions may be enjoyed throughout the performance in the theater. No table service. No outside food/drink permitted at this event.

TIPS: Purchase Tickets in advance for best pricing and seating. The JCC's gym and other activities are open at this time and parking may be limited. Please consider carpooling, and give yourself time for parking.
