Violinist Francesca Depasquale in Livestream Concert

California Music Center, producer of the Klein International String Competition, presents acclaimed violinist Francesca DePasquale in Spring for the Klein, a virtual concert to benefit the 2021 Klein Competition on May 6, 2021 at 5PM Pacific. DePasquale, top prizewinner of the 2010 Klein, will be joined by pianist Scott Cuellar.

Of note are four movements from the recent world premiere of On the Blue Shore of Silence, a multi-media commissioning project that draws inspiration from Pablo Neruda's collection of twelve poems "On the Blue Shore of Silence/Poems of the Sea". RSVP for livestream access - suggested donation of $50. The program includes:

Mozart - Six Variations for Violin and Piano in G minor, K. 360

Faure - Au Bord de l'eau Op. 8 No. 1 arr. Violin and Piano

On the Blue Shore of Silence for Violin, Piano, Electronics, and Visual Art (world premiere performance 5/5/21, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society by Francesca dePasquale) Composers: Gity Razaz, Sayo Kosugi, and Gloria Justen; and visual artist Johanna Andruchovici

About Francesca dePasquale
Described by critics as "scintillating" and celebrated for her "rich, expressive playing" (Musical America), violinist Francesca dePasquale was the first-prize winner of the 2010 Irving M. Klein International String Competition and recipient of the prestigious 2014-16 career grant from the Leonore Annenberg Fellowship Fund for the Performing and Visual Arts. Earning her the 2015 Classical Recording Foundation Young Artist Award, her self-titled debut album and accompanying recital tour was praised for its "sincerity, intensity" and "individual voice" (Philadelphia Inquirer) and "immaculate and discreet phrasing" (The Strad). DePasquale's teachers have included Itzhak Perlman, Catherine Cho, and Robert Lipsett. Previous teachers include Hirono Oka and William dePasquale, with additional mentorship from Norman Carol and Arnold Steinhardt.
