Even with an alias like Lucky Date, Jordan Atkins-Loria had to hustle hard to carve out his own space in the electronic dance music world.
From a young age, music became an integral part of Jordan’s life. From playing around on the drums in grade school to producing his own beats in high school and selling them to local kids for twenty bucks a pop. Right before relocating to Chicago for college, an eye-opening experience occurred:
"I started going to raves in the Bay Area," he recalls. "I was just blown away by electronic music, especially hearing some of the early Benny Benassi material. I knew the production was similar enough to what I'd done with hip hop, but I was still a little nervous to try it..". Once in Chicago, he set out to make straight-up electronic and house music. After continued hard work, buzz began building online for his enigmatic and energetic style, he quickly became a presence in the scene. Lucky Date had arrived and he hasn't turned back since.
His diligent devotion to the craft is finally paying off in a big way and with an inimitable progressive house sound, Lucky Date has now become a sought-after artist and remixer -- handling reworking duty for the likes of Datsik, Madonna and Steve Aoki. His original productions are something to shout about as well, drawing the attention and endorsement from some of the biggest names in the business from David Guetta to Porter Robinson.
Having toured with the likes of Excision, he's also crafted a show that's not to be missed. His highly regarded roller coaster like sets always get the crowd moving and on Friday May 10, we are lucky enough to catch a ride when this talented young producer makes his debut on Vessel's stage.
