Vandella
SF’s Vandella is a lovechild of rock & roll, roots & soul, helmed by two enigmatic frontpeople and distinct songwriters. A modern-day Buckingham-Nicks, vocalist Tracey Holland and guitarist Chris Tye mix up a potent potion of sexy, sweaty 70s-era rock & roll. A package of Rolling Stones rock-meets-Alabama Shakes soul, the two met while both studying music in LA and spent the subsequent years traveling up and down the West Coast, honing their individual signatures and tying them together to form Vandella. Garnering comparisons to Stevie Nicks and Janis Joplin, Holland is a powerhouse of a frontwoman, whose vocal prowess is matched only by her insistent command of the stage. As writers, Holland is at times intense and bewitching; tempered by the understated, perennially-cool air of her counterpart in Tye. The result is a sound that feels both exciting yet effortlessly vibey - evocative of that hazy sheen of their native California.
Cordovas
The Cordovas are Joe Firstman, Lucca Soria, Jon Loyd and Graham Spillman. Out of Nashville, TN, Cordovas sound is based in harmony, song and musicianship. He has several compositions on the forthcoming Cordovas album. Keyboardist Jon Loyd is an original Cordova. Out of Macon, GA Loyd's high notes and piano style make the sound recognizable and unforgettable. His musical genius is well known in Nashville circles. Redondo Beaches, California's Graham Spillman is on drums. The 25 year old Berkeley-College-of-Music-drop-out also sings and pens tunes for the group. Cordovas will release a new full length album produced by two time Grammy Nominee Kenneth Pattengale, of Milk Carton Kids, this summer. Jamie Ruben, Nashville Legend and owner of the storied music venue, Family Wash says of the band " They're fantastic! Beautiful and real music, a rarity these days." Long time booker Tom Bianchi of Boston's, The Burren, says "Easily one of the best bands we've had in 20 years".
Lee Gallagher & The Hallelujah
Having recently been named one of the Top 5 Best Up-and-Coming Bay area bands of 2014 by CBS and most recently one of 5 bands to watch in 2015 by Relix magazine, Lee Gallagher and the Hallelujah have clearly made a mark in their short time together since forming in mid-2013. Based in San Francisco but comprised of Midwestern and Southern transplants with a devotion to honest roots based American music, they weave a sonic tapestry framed by wailing guitars, churning organ, and more than a slight nod to the southern gospel music of their past. The band has garnered buzz for their live shows which transform traditional music venues into sweaty, hip-shaking, psychedelic tent revivals.
