Unsilent Night is a participatory sound artwork by composer Phil Kline, an ethereal, electronic soundscape played by the audience on boomboxes carried through city streets.
Each participant gets one of four tracks of music in the form of a cassette, CD, or MP3. All four tracks played simultaneously comprise Unsilent Night.
Bring a boombox, portable speaker, or anything that amplifies music, loaded with one of the piece's four tracks. When we're all assembled, we'll push play in unison and walk through the Mission back alleys as the piece unfolds.
Download the tracks at: unsilentnight.com/participate
We will have some cassettes, and CDs on hand, but participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own boomboxes or portable speakers and to pre-download one of the four tracks to play.
Please arrive at Mission Dolores Park (by the tennis courts at the corner of 18th & Dolores) by 7pm, ready to "Hit Play" for the 7:30 liftoff! We will complete the 60 minute stroll back at Mission Dolores Park.
This is a free, public event for all ages. The more participants, the better it sounds, so please invite your friends.
