In this exhibition, Undoboy Portraits, Undoboy uses a series of seamless characters to illustrate his unrestrained personality as a recollection of his childhood memories. Each self-portrait is distinct and unique, but they also overlap and blend with one another. In a way, it is also a commentary on the complexity of the human persona. This series comes purely from his memory, plain silliness, his frame of reference, love, craziness, experiences, and ultimate happiness. The artwork is a process rather than a final presentation - a process of self-realization, a process of learning his identity, and a process of connecting to others. It will continue to evolve over time.
“Undoboy Portraits is a series about my search for identity. I hope the work creates an imaginative space where the viewer learns more about themselves than they do about me.” – Undo
Undo was born and raised in Malaysia within a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society. His works are to reflect his personal experience, to deconstruct his memory and to search for happiness. Undo created his first designer toy Super-Bastard Box Art Characters in New York; these toys explore the complexity and range of human identity through pop culture. His works have also been exhibited in Los Angeles, CA, Sarasota, FL, Chicago, IL, Portland, OR, London, Singapore and Malaysia. Everything Undo does echo happiness.
