Understanding AI - Artful Intelligence: Empowering Human Creativity

SEE EVENT DETAILS
There is a growing sense that AI and algorithmic thinking are encroaching on key areas of our social, professional, and creative lives. In partnership with the newly launched Artful Intelligence Institute, and to celebrate the release of Thinking Like a Human: The Power of Your Mind in the Age of AI, join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion on strategies for empowering creativity in these challenging times.
How do we create, in real time, amidst the chaos of uncertainty? What might bolster our confidence to take creative risks? Why is it so important to still gather in physical artful spaces, embodied human to embodied human? To answer these questions, we will convene a panel of master improvisors, thought leaders, and creative professionals:
Holly Bowling is an artist who defies convention and eludes labels. Acclaimed by Rolling Stone and having jammed with a long list of impressive company (Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Branford Marsalis, and many more), she is a virtuoso pianist with her own musical voice.
Stacy Horne is Director of Programming at Stern Grove Festival and Manny's. She is a master community builder and experience creator in the live event space with a track record of conceptualizing and producing cultural events, festivals, and concerts.
Andy Horwitz is a writer, cultural programmer, and creative producer in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. He is the founder of Culturebot.org, one of the web's most adventurous and respected arts and culture magazines.
Reed Mathis is a doorway to a hidden world of music. He is an innovative composer, virtuoso soloist, host of The Gifts of Improvising podcast, and musician who accompanies and challenges Bill Kruetzmann, Bob Weir, and other members of the Grateful Dead.
David Weitzner is an associate professor at York University and founder of the Artful Intelligence Institute. He is the author of Thinking Like a Human: The Power of Your Mind in the Age of AI and Psychology Today's Managing with Meaning blog.
Coming out of the event we hope you will feel energized, armed with new tools, and more hopeful about the ability to thrive as a creative human in the age of AI.
