On the night of November 23, our beloved UMAMI meets its untimely demise. Join us--on that very date--for an all-night-long vigil in solemn remembrance of a deranged life.
Descending from the seaside city of Chiba is the godfather of Japanese techno himself, DJ NOBU, whose rise to notoriety as the mastermind of acclaimed party series Future Terror presaged his renown as one of the world's most in-demand selectors. He is joined by Berlin-based hypnotist extraordinaire KANGDING RAY, whose avant-garde approach to electronic music--drawing on a background in rock and musique concrète--manifests in a prodigious discography spanning such labels as Dekmantel, Figure, and Stroboscopic Artefacts. Last rites and additional ministrations will be performed by San Francisco's very own MONOSYM and FAIT ACCOMPLI.
Let it be known that UMAMI died the way it lived: fearless, unapologetic, and utterly unhinged.
