Turntable Drawings | Danny Clay and Jon Fischer

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at McEvoy Foundation for the Arts (see times)
'Turntable Drawings' is a collaboration between composer Danny Clay and printmaker Jon Fischer. The pair manufactures records imprinted with mathematical textures, original recorded materials, and direct casts of existing LPs. Clay and Fischer will conduct a series of workshops in MFA's galleries, allowing visitors to play dozens of custom records on turntables. A final performance includes a "turntable orchestra" on Saturday, April 7, inviting artists and students from various disciplines to interact with the soundscape.

Clay and Fischer's 'Turntable Drawings' and Christine Marie's 'Shadows in Stereo' are a series of interactive workshops and performances in conjunction with 'Stories,' MFA's Spring 2018 exhibition. Free and open to the public, these live experiments revisit the 20th century technologies of augmented reality (Marie) and vinyl records (Clay, Fischer). They invite visitors to participate in a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process.
