Four Barrel Coffee and The Mill are pleased to present Turn by Suzanne Baxter. Born in Wichita, Kansas, Baxter has a varied background that includes degrees in Graphic Design, Finance, and Economics. Her lifelong relationships with both visual art and numbers have led her to create beautiful abstract paintings that she describes as a meeting of the minds, where the left brain and the right brain find common ground and partnership. Baxter’s organic and geometric imagery is rooted in line work- wonderfully precise and hand painted without tape or straightedges- that coalesces into forms and webs and networks. These webs of line often evoke a sense of controlled chaos and the feeling that the energy moving throughout and within each form is nearing the point of eruption, though frozen in that pre-change moment. Baxter’s process is spontaneous and unplanned: a journey that takes her, and ultimately the viewer, someplace new with each canvas.
