Traveling in Black Colors showcases three performers pushing forward a movement of sound and lyricism, rooted in soul substance and style that is not confined to the limits of any one genre.
PitchBlackGold (Ka Mau) is poet, emcee, choreographer and creative director from San Francisco,Ca. He has lived in Indonesia for almost 10 years as an unofficial cultural ambassador, traveling to 14 different countries doing work in promoting true Hip-Hop culture, performance arts, activism and youth arts development. Ka Mau’s intention is to inspire one to dive into their spirit through whatever art-form he expresses. Whether his poetry speaks on the subjects of solitude or love or giving critiques of politics and social injustices, Ka Mau evokes metaphysical insights that hit the soul of his topics. His “fluid mix of spirituality and grit” (SF Weekly) urge us go deeper to discover the answers. (http://www.pitchblackgold.wordpress.com/)
Holly Saucy a.k.a. Chela Simone is one of those most “difficult to define artists”. The singer/songwriter, emcee, vocalist and radio show personality, shoe designer, beat maker, Holly is a living testament to the multi-talented artist. Holly Saucy was featured on the 2011 BET Music Matters Tour with Artists Marsha Ambrosius and Melanie Fiona right before releasing two Mix tapes “Hollys Hobbies” & “Insomnia Wins”. That is where she found herself looking for another challenge, accidentally rediscovering some of her favorite rock artists, Holly decided that would be the next direction to go. Infusing sounds from her travels she birthed, “Death of a Mermaid’.
