Travel Memories

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Exhibit open from 9/26 to 11/1 from 11am to 5pm everyday except Mondays and Tuesdays.

Travel Memories: Acrylics, Assemblages & Alligators by Doris Arrington was inspired and encouraged by friends and students wanting to see Doris’s images of memories as she traveled throughout the world helping children and adults recover from anger, fear and abandonment. The exhibit includes representative paintings from different cultures, Russia, Ukraine, Ethiopia, South China minorities, and multimedia assemblages that contain found objects from around the world. Also included are humorous alligator boxes that are known to display personalities of the person that purchased them. The boxes come with a certificate protecting the owner from any other alligators in CA.

In the early 80’s, Dr. Doris Arrington founded the Art Therapy Psychology Department at Notre Dame de Namur University where she served as Department Chair for 30 years. In the last 10 years she has been an invited professor training caregivers throughout the world in how to use art materials and images in rehabilitating individuals suffering from traumatic experiences. Over the years, Arrington and members of her department have sponsored art exhibits in prestigious galleries, government buildings, university halls and caring communities. Arrington is the author of two books and an art based assessment. She currently shows paintings and assemblages with Peninsula Art Institute in Burlingame.
