There is growing evidence that modified yoga when taught by specially trained individuals and employed in a therapeutic context, can be a tool for healing and empowerment for people who have experienced trauma.
In this workshop, you will learn how to implement key techniques and practices that promote self-awareness, embodiment, self- regulation, resiliency, and safety.
These practices may be implemented into an ongoing holistic therapy program as a component or complement modality or as a complete yoga therapy program which includes a yogic therapeutic alliance, applied eight-limb practices, and practical application of yoga philosophy into modern life.
Trauma-sensitive yoga is best used with people who experience treatment-persistent PTSD, or complex trauma, which may include symptoms such as dissociation, anxiety, impaired memory, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, joint and chronic muscle pain.
This workshop is designed for Health Professionals, Therapists, Advanced Yoga Teachers, and Yoga Therapists. This course is a part I of a two-part “Yoga For Mental Health” module in the 300-hour courses.
