This vocal powerhouse aims to connect communities with her universal language of love, hope, and happiness. Her unique musical and lyrical blend -- Bay Area urban soul tinged with the influence of her indigenous Filipino roots --has captured the ears of music lovers around the world. Boasting a vocal range that might be bigger than her, Cruz emanates a classic and timeless feel.
She has won numerous awards including three Bay Area Black Music Awards and three Muse’s Muse Awards. In addition, she has received five Hollywood Music in Media Awards nominations, three Northern California Entertainers Music Awards nominations, and three Soultracks.com nominations. She has shared the stage with Kenny Lattimore, Derrick Hodge of the Robert Glasper Experiment, Raheem Devaughn, Miki Howard, Sy Smith, Bilal, Pete Escovedo & Orchestra, Apl. de. LILAN KANE
Lilan Kane (pronounced LEE - lawn) is an award winning singer-songwriter based in Oakland, CA. She released her album Love, Myself to a sold out crowd at Yoshi's in 2016 and she returns with new music. Her vintage-tinged soul sound flows through the heartfelt compositions, telling stories of love, loss, and self-discovery while they seamlessly blend R&B, funk, pop, and jazz. She has been making waves with her corporate party band Hella Fitzgerald, and is looking forward to returning to the Yoshi's stage with new original music.
A Berklee College of Music graduate, she recently performed in New Orleans at the French Quarter Festival and graced the Yoshi's stage again, this time with the dynamic Cosa Nostra Strings. They also performed at Undercover Presents: A Tribute to the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Other notable performances include the Fillmore Jazz Festival, San Jose Winter Jazz Fest, Great American Music Hall, Sweetwater Music Hall, The Mint LA, the Whisky A Go-Go, and sold out shows at Yoshi's, SF JAZZ, and the Sound Room in Oakland. She has opened for Hall & Oates, The Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Sharon Jones, Trombone Shorty, and Morgan James.
