If there were a punk rock checklist, SoCal's Total Chaos would hit every mark: Spiked mohawks, leather jackets, anti-government/anti-everything lyrics. Check, check and check. They even have badass Sex Pistols-esque pseudonyms (Rob Chaos, Miguel Conflict, Shawn Smash). They first started punk-rocking in 1989, were signed to Epitaph briefly in the '90s, and have made a whole lot of angry anti-establishment fans along the way. They walk a line between hyper-fast crusty and dingy, shout-along street anthems. They've devoted themselves to always political (often controversial) stances in their songs, like advocating for anarchy, and blaming fascism and hate crimes on Christianity. They do it with really catchy, growly choruses. (Aaron Carnes)
