Tortilla Soup Band was founded in August of 2003 by Band Leader/Trumpet Player Robert Payne in the city of San Jose Ca. From the very start of the band there was one thing for sure, the band was going to play a variety of dance music from the 1960's to the present and the members were going to be seasoned. Robert has kept his promise and has had current and former members in Tortilla Soup from Iconic Bands such as Tower of Power, Huey Lewis and The News, Stevie Wonder, Tony Toni Tone and more !!!!
Tortilla Soup Is a high energy 9 piece band that will definitely get you on the dance floor and make you forget about the world for a moment. Tortilla Soup has played on Carnival and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and at most large casinos through out California. In the past twenty years Tortilla Soup has been blessed to have opened up for bands such as WAR, Ozomatli, Malo, Tierra, El Chicano, GQ, Brenton Wood, The Texas Tornados, Confunkshun, Little Joe y La Familia and Pete Escovedo to name a few !!
Though Ruckatan has been a band for a while--and the individual members have been part of the Bay Area Latin, reggae, jazz scene for decades now--the current Ruckatan seven-piece lineup is really pretty recent. And they have been on fire lately, mixing Latin beats, rock, pop and jazz songwriting with a ton of percussion. The beauty of the band is how well they play both to a hardcore Latin music fanatic, and just casual fans of live dance music. It's a real eclectic blend of good music. (Aaron Carnes)
