Toro y Moi just announced that his next album Outer Peace will arrive on January 18th via Carpark Records and released a video for lead single "Freelance."
Toro y Moi is the project of South Carolina's Chaz Bear. His debut album Causers of This, released in 2009, an album that was instrumental in kicking off the trend of home-recorded, hazy albums relying heavily on samples and production. Toro y Moi is one of the most dynamic, genre-defying musicians to come out of the last decade. Underneath the Pine, the follow up to Causers of This, was composed entirely of live instrumentation. Bear followed that with the psych rock-based What For? and then last year's R&B influenced Boo Boo. Despite the genre hopping, Bear has a signature sound and energy that always makes it clear that it's a Toro Y Moi album.
