THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
Honky tonk revisionists out of Oakland, Crying Time plays straight up country music. Their original songs evoke an earlier era and sit pretty in the mix of country classics, from Bob Wills to George Jones and Glen Campbell, with whistle stops in between and whistle stops in between, with their vintagey originals sitting pretty in the mix. In addition to the beautiful singing of Jill Rogers, juke joint heroics of guitarist Myles Boisen, heartbreak fiddling of Tony Marcus, and rhythm and swing of Tim Rowe (drums) and Smilin' Pete Garellick (bass), the band is frequently graced by brilliant pedal steel work of the legendary Bobby Black.

The worlds of indie rock iconoclast John Vanderslice and alt-country godfather Alejandro Escovedo rarely intersect, but in Tom Heyman, they most certainly do. The San Francisco based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has toured and recorded with artists of most every stripe, from Chuck Prophet and John Doe to cult favorites Girls and a whole lot more in between. He'll open the show with a solo acoustic set.
