THRESHOLDS / Le Corps Poétique Experiential Exhibit

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us for an afternoon of art, interactive experiences, poetic storytelling, debates, and a live sound performance.

Le Corps Poétique is a group exhibition and event presented by Think Make Tank (TMT) Artist Collective taking place on January 7th, 2018. Thirteen local and international artists are asked to examine and interpret the title of the exhibition, a play-on-words that can be translated as Poetic Corpus, hinting at both the physical body and the oeuvre. Questioning the role of the body in a world where we too often feel dissociated from it, Le Corps Poétique explores the constant oscillation between physical and non-physical states through varied practices that include language, photography, video, performance and installation.

The layout of the exhibition can be navigated much like the brain processes body parts as a series of topographic maps - each part separate, but together, forming a whole. Liminal spaces are explored between the conscious and unconscious, lucid or dreamlike, intimate or public, feminine and masculine, physical and metaphysical, disturbing and peaceful, life and death.

TMT’s core belief is that an idea must be experienced to make it one’s own. As such, the event open to the public on January 7, 2018 aims to move people through poetic-scapes. Each process is a form of transformation. Visitors are invited to cross over the threshold in a guided experiential journey. This singular production celebrates experimentation by eliciting the senses through a series of performances and mediations.

Exhibiting Artists: Sholeh Asgary, Jorge Bachmann, Ema Chang, Magali Charmot, Alice Charmot, Eilish Cullen, Qinmin Liu, Daniel Lorenze, Michael A. Mersereau, Alex Nichols & Mushi Wooseong James, Jessica Resmond, Ignacio Valero.

TMT Collective: TMT is located at 151 Potrero Hill, San Francisco, CA, where it shares space with Space 151 gallery. The goal of TMT is to involve the public in the process of connecting, communicating, and exploring how we locate ourselves through language, culture, space, and time.
