Thep Phanom has been voted best Thai food in San Francisco so many times that it borders on the obscene. And though the moniker 'authentic' is often used without much discretion in regards to cuisines such as Thai, Thep Phanom's food truly warrants such a description. Along side such standards as pad thai and tom ka gai are more creative dishes like pork stuffed calimari and thai roasted quail, but even the latter dishes lack the culinary haughtiness that plagues some of the more trendy nouveau Asian/Asian fusion restaurants.
Favorites: Dancing Ladies (prawns stuffed with crab), Thai Tantic Beef, and Three's Company (prawns, scallops and calamari in coconut sauce)
